Today we took a long ride through the rain forest to a stop downriver from the falls. From there we took a speedboat up the river.
The views were spectacular and we got spectacularly wet.
After some time to take pictures they had us put all of our gear into dry bags and then the boat went as far into the falls as they could. Not sure we were IN the falls but we were definitely well into the spray. We got totally, to the skin, drenched. Recommendation for anyone wanting to do this…take goggles so you can see what is going on. The force of the spray is so strong it is impossible to keep ones eyes open.

Of course, the new GoPro that was purchased for recording just such fun activities chose to freeze just as we were getting to the falls. Never take new equipment until you’ve totally figured it out. (Turns out the battery was dead.)
The walk up the side of the canyon afforded us more gorgeous views of the falls...
some very up close...
giving us more chances to get wet.
At the top we decided to have lunch at the local fast food concession…hoping it would be a bit cheaper than the rather pricey hotel restaurant. Turned out to be a Subway…go figure. Subway in an Argentinean national park.

While eating our sandwiches on the patio we saw another coati and a really long lizard, a Tegu, two feet. Certainly bigger than the ones in our garden in Moraga.
We then went to the hotel to dry off and get into dry clothes. We thought about putting our clothes outside on our rooms patio to dry, but it was very humid, so that probably would not work. And besides, we would probably see a monkey wearing them later.
